Blocks & Pulleys

Snatch Blocks double the pulling power of any winch or aid in angled pulls. They also reduce heat build up and amp draw. Snatch block pivots at the pulley pin to allow quick attachment to your cable. We offer a variety of blocks with different capacities, attachments (hook or shackle), and sheave sizes to meet your specific need.

Pulleys are generally used for soft ropes instead of wire rope. They are smaller and lighter than wire rope snatch blocks.

Having a ton of variations, sizes and weight limitations (working load limits), it’s good to know what your looking for when choosing a snatch block. Remember these handy tips when choosing a snatch block for your rigging needs:

  • Make sure the Working Load Limit (WLL) of both the snatch block and the wire rope falls within your jobs needs. If the WLL is not compatible with the WLL of the rope, dangerous situations can arise causing either one to fail.
  • Check to make sure the size of the sheave in the snatch block and the diameter of the wire rope fits correctly. If the wire rope is too large for the sheave, the block can crack a good general rule of thumb is the size ratio should be 12:1 in order to hold the wire properly while under load.
  • Because a snatch block will feel like the load is easy to lift it might not be so in actuality, choose a pulley that has a rating of double the pull you’ll need.

You’ll probably need some wire rope as well. We have all the sizes you’ll need.

Choosing the right snatch block can be a bit baffling at times so if you have any questions we have an onsite engineer to help at no cost to you just give us a call at (866) 848-2032
